Violations of Student Confidentiality

The following list of violations is not meant to be exhaustive. When in doubt, consult your principal or campus account manager. (If you have a nonteacher account, contact the Office of Institutional Research at OIR@dallasisd.org.) In addition, be aware that confidentiality applies to both student and teacher data.

  • Sharing your employee ID and password with others (including someone authorized view the data). Simply put: do not share your account with anyone.
  • Storing printouts or electronic data where others can gain access to them
  • Leaving your computer unattended while still signed in to your account
  • Disclosing student data to someone that has no legitimate educational purpose to view such data
  • Disclosing information that can be traced back to individual students
  • Mailing or e-mailing student information through unsecured channels
